Economic and Health Crisis Create Need for No Tax Increases

March 18, 2020

Today, I joined Supervisors Jeanine Lawson (Brentsville) and Yesli Vega (Coles) in requesting that the County Executive develop a FY21 County budget that keeps our tax bills the same as last year. While our health care officials address the COVID-19 crisis, it’s our responsibility to take bold action during this time of economic turmoil. With the economic uncertainty that each family and small business owner is facing, I believe it would be irresponsible to increase taxes and to take more money away from folks.

We’ve also requested that the County Executive reallocate money within the budget to address the increased needs within our social services programs.

The Prince William Board of County Supervisors must stand with the citizens of Prince William County and provide stability during this unprecedented time.
